This work presents an easier route to unsaturated silicon-rich oligocarbosilanes with conjugated and nonconjugated chains and the first oriented investigation of the optical and electronic properties of the synthesized materials before and after doping
with iodine. The thesis has three important parts: the synthesis of the precursors as monomers for oligomerization, the oligomerization reactions and the conductivity measurements of the synthesized monomers and oligomers. The precursors are
dialkenyl-oligosilanes and have been oligomerized by olefin metathesis reaction in the presence of Grubbs catalyst. An alternative method to unsaturated oligosilanes is the salt metathesis reaction of α,ω-dilithiooligosilane with
dichloro-olefins. The conductivity of thin films of the products has been measured by means of four probe method. The majority of the synthesized oligocarbosilanes have the conductivity between 10-3-10-2 S/m. A nonconjugated monomer has the conductivity
of 1 S/m.
